Well, spring seems to be here at last, and the woods are looking lovely. Above a carpet of bluebells, the beech leaves are appearing and there's the sound of woodpeckers drumming.
Following a mammoth run of Wild Days over Easter, we're running a select few over the May half-term. For more information on any of our courses, including our children's parties, visit our website or get in touch. We hope to see you out in the woods sometime soon!
1. May half-term Wild Days booking now
We've got some lovely Wild Days for the May half-term, including 'Stalking Wolves' and 'Wild in the Woods'. They are all fun, educational events for children, in our beautiful beech woods.
ALL profits from our Wild Days (and all our other activities) go to New Horizons, our alternative curriculum for disadvantaged teenagers. Book now before they sell out!
2. Now recruiting: Party Helpers
Following increased demand for our parties, we're looking to expand our staff team. Initally we're recruiting Party Helpers to assist in running children's parties in the woods for up to 30 children. You need to be energetic, outgoing and self-reliant with a love of the outdoors.
We offer expenses and the opportunity to go on to become a paid party leader if we consider you a suitable candidate.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience of working with children. Please contact us on 0118 326 8322 for more information, or email a C.V. to parties@frontiers.uk.net.
3. Bulgaria expedition 2008: Free places available
We have almost secured funding from the European Commission to run an expedition to a Bulgarian orphanage with students on our alternative curriculum. See details here.
This means that we hope to offer several FREE places to anyone under 30 who has experience of working with disadvantaged, disengaged teenagers. You would need to be energetic, open-minded and self-reliant, since you would take some responsibility for supporting the teenagers. You would need to be available from 12th June 2008, for up to five weeks (shorter periods may be possible).
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience new cultures and gain valuable experience of working with orphans and disadvantaged British teenagers, in a project featured in the two-part BBC documentary, Inside Out. We are still short of funds for this trip and are fundraising frantically!
We are also looking for volunteers to assist on our alternative curriculum at both our bases, in Pangbourne and Oxford. Please contact us for more information or email a CV to contact@frontiers.uk.net if you are interested in either of these positions.
4. Frontiers chosen for Oxford Funding Network event
Frontiers is one of 5 organisations chosen to take part in an Oxford event on 14th May, organised by The Funding Network. It is a new initiative enabling people to donate money to good causes in an informed, sociable way. Each organisation gives a short presentation, then guests are invited to donate money to causes they believe in. There's no pressure whatsoever to give - many people come to be part of a fun and worthwhile evening.
The event is in a beautiful location and is open to all. See details here.
